Alberto Vargas – one of the most famous, and reputedly one of the best artists pinap-art. He was born Feb. 9, 1896 in Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru and was the eldest of six children.Already in his early years he began to draw, so much so that in 7 – 14 years could sell his cartoons to local newspapers.His father, Max Vargas, was a renowned portrait photographer, who had a studio in Arequipa and Peru’s capital of La Paz. He has participated in international photo exhibitions and, for example, at an exhibition in Paris, received the award for his series of photographs of “Inca ruins near Cusco. He taught his son work with the airbrush, which was then not a small hand tool, as we know it today, but cumbersome clumsy apparatus, which required a lot of dexterity and skill of the artist, who conceived would use it.In those years the airbrush has been used almost exclusively for retouching negatives. A Vargas, in his childhood involved a lot of photography. In 1911, at the insistence of the first of his mother Margaret, Alberto and his brother Max were sent to Europe, to Switzerland to study: Max – banking, Alberto – languages and photography.
